US Women’s Soccer: Briana Scurry
Briana Scurry, who wore the U.S. Army patch on her uniform, gave a moving speech on the 60th anniversary of the formation of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) telling the audience that the WASP, who stood up for women’s rights, was all about their mission and not about a man. The WASP flew bombers, cargo aircraft, and helicopters during World War II, training pilots to fly and to teach others how to operate the equipment. On the WASP’s 60th anniversary, it was revealed that more than 1,000 of the WASPs are still alive. (Photo by Molly Riley-Pool/Getty Images)

US Women’s Soccer: Shannon Boxx
Shannon Boxx: Us women soccer team think we’re looking good. We got that preseason wins against the
Galaxy and Kansas City, we looked really good. I think the issue right now is the European
transfers, getting those guys back in. And again, I think it’s a great thing for us to have
internationals like Hope Solo and Lauren Holiday, and Alex Morgan coming back early.
Obviously, when you have a lot of different players coming in, there’s a learning curve and
we got to start looking at some different things on the field as well.
I think our fans are looking forward to seeing some of our talented players back, and we look forward to getting them back.
Question: Will you bring along another player from that European club?
Boxx: Well, we’ve got our eyes on a few players, but I can’t go into details.
